So… crazy stuff. The Republicans now control all three branches of government. At first glance this means climate change initiatives will be set back a decade. The progress that was established towards civil liberties for LBGT and minorities will be delayed because you now have a vice-president who believes you can electrocute the gay out of people. Trump's current foreign policy is an unmitigated disaster. Americans voted for someone because he spewed bumper-sticker solutions to complex problems instead of pragmatic, incremental progress. Ayy.

Exactly 71 years ago today the first atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima, completely decimating the city in the process. Today, thousands gathered here to send paper candles drifting in the river with wishes for a more peaceful world.
